During our recent study of John in our women’s ministry Bible studies, John 11:5-6 stood out to me in a particular way: “Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.”

Mentoring: The Courage to Ask

I came to know the Lord when I was 18 years old, just before I left home for a small secular college in Maine. I entered college with a fire in my heart to know Jesus more, but with a faith that was fledgling and tender. I joined the Christian fellowship group on campus right away and sought to start walking in the grace of God. I joined a peer-led Bible study and spent time with other believers my age.

A Word for the Year

Every December, I spend time in reflection, meditation, and prayer. In the midst of a chaotic holiday season, I specifically ask the Lord for one thing for the coming year. I ask for a word: one word to encapsulate what He wants me to focus my heart on for the coming year.
